Former President Barack Obama, who served as the 44th president of the U.S. from 2009 to 2017, released his 2020 candidate endorsement the other day.
Obama endorsed 118 candidates and published the names of the candidates through his social media channels. The former president, shared a post reads the candidates’ names & states through Instagram and captioned it as follows:
“I’m proud to endorse this diverse and hopeful collection of thoughtful, empathetic, and highly qualified Democrats.”
The first African & American president, taking this action to help Democrats keep control of the House of Representatives, continued:
“Together, these candidates will help us redeem our country’s promise by sticking up for working-class people, restoring fairness and opportunity to our system, and fighting for the good of all Americans—not just those at the top. They make me optimistic about our party’s chances in November and about our country’s future long after that.”
Obama concluded his statement by encouraging citizens to vote for the endorsed candidates:
“So if you’re in one of their districts or states, make sure you vote for them this fall. And if you can, vote early—by mail or in person.”
As might be remembered, Obama had shown off his support for Joe Biden weeks before with the following words on Twitter:
“I sat down with @JoeBiden to talk about the most pressing issues of our time. He’s exactly the leader we need right now––with the vision, the plans, and character to move America forward.”
