Film director, screenwriter, and actor Spike Lee received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine the other day at NYU Langone Hospital and encouraged people to get it too with an Instagram post.

Spike Lee, who is now a tenured professor at New York University, shared a video of himself that sees him getting the first shot of Pfizer vaccine, clapping hands, and shouting of joy. Alongside the video, the ‘Inside Man‘ director added a caption that reads:

“I did not jump or cut the line. As a professor ( NYU grad film) I met the criteria. I fully understand the history of medicine/science have treated black and brown bodies.”

Then Lee added that coronavirus is not a “hoax” and not a “game” as some people described it; according to the filmmaker, the COVID-19 is devastating brown and black communities. For that reason, he encouraged his fans and followers to do their own research and make an educated decision on receiving the vaccine. He continued:

Hope you do the right thing and that’s the ‘save your life-truth, ruth.'”

The 63-year-old did not skip to urge his fans & followers to wear double masks.

As known, vaccine hesitancy or anti-vaccination is rising day by day with the claims that there is not enough scientific basis regarding it; as for certain celebs like Spike Lee are trying to lead people to think about the vaccine via their social media posts.
