Former Fifth Harmony member, Lauren Jauregui took to Instagram on January 14 to mourn the death of her beloved grandfather, Jorge.
The singer & songwriter, who gained media attention with the romance rumors between her and Fifth Harmony alum Camila Cabello of late, posted a series of photos of herself with her grandfather, who passed away due to cancer, and led a tribute to him with a heartfelt message.
Jauregui first wrote that cancer took her grandfather from her too fast, and continued by saying:
“Abuelo, thank you for everything. Thank you for teaching me how to drive, thank you for always believing in me and cheering me on and showing me off to any and everyone you encountered. Thank you for helping us with no second thought whenever we were struggling financially. Thank you for helping put me through school.”
Jauregui continued thanking her grandfather, who encouraged her in her music career by supporting her even on the backstage; she remembered him with his support in every single major moment of her life. The 24-year-old singer added:
“I’m gonna miss you so much. I know this is what you wanted and I know that you’re not suffering anymore and I know that you’re happier than you were here…but I’m selfish, and I’m gonna fucking miss your grumpy ass at the birthday parties and noche buena. I love you Abuelo.”
Stating that she already feels the presence of her “abuelito,” Jauregui said that she connected with him and felt his hug. She concluded her words as follows:
“I know you’re with me for as long as I’m here…until our souls meet again, cuídate Abuelito. Descansa al fin! Te amo.”
Apart from the abovementioned Instagram tribute, which received a great number of comments commiserating Jorge’s death, the ‘More Than That‘ singer also released a series of tweets to honor her late grandfather.
