Former professional wrestler Jonathan Huber, best known with his ring name Brodie Lee, passed away on December 26, when he was just 41.
According to the official announcement of All Elite Wrestling, Huber died of lung infection. Huber’s wife also stated that he had been treated for the disease for a while, at the Mayo Clinic.
Once the devastating news spread, the professional wrestling community took to social media accounts to mourn Huber’s death. Stephanie McMahon, Chief Brand Officer of WWE, where Huber wrested under the ring name Luke Harper, retweeted the statement of AEW and wrote alongside it:
“I’m so deeply sorry for the loss of Jon Huber. We bonded over the love of our children. He was a true family man. #RIPBrodieLee”
As for Matt Hardy, well-known professional wrestler, posted a photo with Huber, from his birthday and wrote:
“I’m shattered over Brodie’s passing. He was full of life with a wife & young children he loved. A devastating reminder of how fragile life is. Rest well, friend.”
What’s more, WWE star Drew McIntyre also became sociable to say goodbye to his friend; on Twitter, the wrestler shared a photo of himself with Huber and added a note that reads:
“Our entire brotherhood and industry mourns tonight. In addition to his incredible passion and talent, Jon was above all else, a great man, who loved his family more than words can say. Please keep them in your thoughts. I’ll see you down the road, brother. “
As fans already know, Brodie Lee started his wrestling career in 2003, and worked on the independent circuit for almost 9 years. After that, he joined WWE and became Intercontinental Champion in 2014. Almost 5 years after, he departed WWE and made his AEW debut in 2020.
