According to the news by left-wing Instagram page, Occupy Democrats, singer and actor Dolly Parton is one of the major funders for Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine, which is 94.5% effective against the coronavirus in early data.

The political organization released the news a few days ago by posting a photo of the ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’ star with a message on it. A part of the message as follows:

“Shakespeare may have written by King Lear during the plague, but Dolly Parton funded a COVID vaccine, dropped a Christmas album and a Christmas special.”

Even though many Instagram and Twitter users, including ‘Simpsons’ writer Tim Long, have been posting comments full of jokes since the news spread, according to USA Today, a The New England Journal of Medicine report says the Moderna vaccine was partly funded by Parton through a donation to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

As fans might remember, Parton shared a message back in April through her verified Twitter account regarding the promising vaccine:

“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards the research of the coronavirus for a cure.”

Not long after that tweet, she also announced that she would donate $1 million to support the research efforts for the vaccine against coronavirus. As for Dr. Naji Abumrad told the Washington Post that Parton’s funding made the vaccine research go ten times faster.
