Jameela Jamil Reveals That She Has Been Diagnosed With Ehlers–Danlos Syndromes As She Critizes UK Over Medical System

Jameela Jamil went to her verified Instagram account with a highly hearty post and revealed that she has been suffering from a rare skin disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome for almost 30 years.

Jamil, best known for starring in the comedy series ‘The Good Place,‘ took to her verified Instagram account on May 25; she first released an image bearing a message regarding how hard to have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. In her message, the actor stated:

“Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is always at the forefront of your mind because it affects every single cell in your body, and so every micro decision you make is in consideration of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. For someone to discard that just because you look ‘OK.’ according to their own Bible of ableism, it’s very hurtful.”

Then she took to the caption section and revealed that she was diagnosed with the disorder of connective tissue, which affects the entire body, 26 years ago and unfortunately just “little improvement has been made” in UK’s medical system since then. The podcaster continued her words by criticizing the healthcare system of the country:

“The research has not progressed enough. There isn’t much funding even though we continue to learn that this condition is nowhere near as rare as they used to think it was.”

Stating that as a person with this disorder, getting out of bed in the morning is a victory, Jamil added that the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is not easy to handle. As she always does, the well-known actor, also an activist, concluded her message with inspiring words:

We are so strong mentally and emotionally for having to carry the burden of this condition without anyone understanding or believing us. Try a single *morning* in our shoes bi*ches… Love to my zebras and to those who support us.”

As fans might remember, back in 2019 the actor also disclosed that she has Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
