Justin Bieber, one of the most recognized singers, had a pause on sharing posts devoted to his wifey Hailey Baldwin and asked his fans and followers to pray for Colombia.
As known, thousands of Colombians took to the streets last Wednesday in order to protest the new proposed tax reform. However, during the protests, the security officers used excessive force toward the demonstrators; reportedly 19 people have been killed so far while more than tens of people were injured due to the shooting and live ammunition.
While The United States, United Nations, and European Union condemned the violence, the singer also took to his verified Instagram account and released a photo bearing the message that reads: “Please pray for the people of Colombia.”
Alongside the photo, the 27-year-old star added a note in order to express that he does not know what is going on in the country, however, he wants the violence to be stopped. In his own words:
“Not exactly sure of the ins and outs of what is going on but can clearly see that there is chaos in Colombia right now! Keep the people of Colombia in your prayers.”
As soon as Bieber released the post, his fans and followers, mostly from Colombia jumped into the comments section to thank him to use his platform in this way. What’s more, a user of the photo-sharing platform left the following comment:
“Thank you so much Justin, you speak more than the Colombian artists who forgot their country and say nothing.”
The ‘Peaches’ star is going on receiving supportive messages.
