Actor and producer Elliot Page, the recipient of numerous acting awards including Hollywood Film Awards and MTV Movie Awards, goes on to be a dominant voice for the rights of LGBTQ+ people.
On April 16, Page, who recently captured media attention for divorcing from her dancer wifey Emma Portner, took to his verified Instagram account called out his fans and followers to take action to protect trans kids. The actor released a photo of himself, holding a paper “Protect Trans Kids” written on, and added a lengthy caption to clarify what he is talking about.
“As I watch the movement of these bills attacking trans youth across the US, especially this week in Florida, Alabama, Texas and North Dakota, I am thinking of my trans siblings and the collective pain that our community must endure to battle again and again for our right to exist.”
Stating that these bills are quite upsetting, cruel and exhausting, Page continued his message as follows:
“Call your representatives. Tell them to oppose legislation that discriminates against us. Tell them our access to health care is an inalienable human right. Tell them to let trans kids play sports.”
The ‘Juno’ actor, who came out as transgender on his social media account, concluded his message by saying that transgender people always have and always will.
As soon as the ‘Umbrella Academy‘ star released the post, his industry friends, including Hollywood actor Julianne Moore, TV personality Nathan Fillion, Olivia Munn, and Jaimie Alexander took to the comments section to thank him to speak out about this issue through the social media channels.
