18-year-old Billie Eilish, who is the youngest singer to win the four main Grammy categories, shared a short film named ‘Not My Responsibility’ she had produced.
In this short film, Billie narrates about her own negative body sexualization experiences, and she addresses body shaming issues.
In the video Billie, who stated that she battles against body dysmorphia before, asks some rhetoric questions to her audiences as follows:
“Do you know me? Really know me?”
She continues while taking off her signature baggy outfit:
“Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you?”
And concludes with a powerful message:
“Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?“
As already known, the “Bad Guy” musician has always been criticized because of baggy clothes she prefers to wear, and she had to fight against the comments regarding her body. With this short film, it seems that she answers back to body shamers while inspiring many people.
What’s more, the post and the related short film got much positive feedback from Billie’s followers, and they left the following comments to show their support:
“So many people needed to hear this” said famous Kierra Luv.
“Say it louder for the people in the back” added Myles Baptiste O’Neal.
“Exactly what our woman needed to see & hear” commented Kill Nigel.
