Well-known racing-driver Lewis Hamilton became finally sociable on February 12 after signing a new one-year contract with Mercedes.
Hamilton, also known for being an activist to fight against racism with the aim of increasing diversity in motorsport, called to his fans and followers through his verified Instagram account.
While he is garnering media attention and causing a sort of controversy with his $30million salary, Hamilton posted a photo of himself walking by the sea in a sunset. Underneath the photo, he wrote the following message as a caption to clarify why he had not been around:
“Hey guys, sorry I’ve been absent from here for a while, I’ve been focusing and preparing for the season ahead.”
Considering himself lucky to have had time to prepare, the first black driver to race in the sport stated that he is trying to remain positive for the season ahead. Then Hamilton asked his fans and followers how are they doing by saying that he wants them all to know that he is thinking of them out there.
Expressing his longing to see them in person, the seven-time World Drivers’ Champion ended his caption with the following words:
“I miss so many of you and can’t wait to hopefully see you again soon if not in person then online. But one thing is for sure I’ll be racing my heart out for you this year!”
Following Hamilton’s above-described post, a great number of Instagram users jumped into the comments section to wish him good luck in the upcoming season.
