Janet Jackson, the most-known figure in popular culture, took to her verified Instagram account to pay homage to Cicely Tyson on January 30; a few days after the news that the legendary actor had passed away at the age of 96.

The youngest child of the well-known Jackson family, Janet posted a black & white TBT photo of the two-time Emmy Award winner and added a caption to the photo to express how much she has been devastated by the news. The pop icon began her tribute with the following words:

My heart is so heavy. At this moment I’m celebrating the life of a true inspiration to me, Cicely Tyson.”

Then one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time, Jackson, described the ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman‘ star as “an icon, a legend, a pioneer, a trailblazer, and a queen” by referring that she is one of the bold pioneers of the cinema.  Stating that to have been in Tyson’s presence and to have worked with him is an honor, the ‘That’s the Way Love Goes‘ hitmaker concluded her words as follows:

“Thank you for all you have done for me, for our people, for women, and for the world! You will be truly missed. 🙏🏽🤍”

Jackson’s abovementioned tribute, came after a great number of notable names in the celebs world, including Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston, Tyra Banks, Lenny Kravitz and AnnaSophia Robb, had sent their condolences through their official social media accounts.

As known, the legendary actor died on January 28, 2021, due to an unknown cause, just 2 days after her first memoir ‘Just As I Am‘ had been released.
