Social media personality and singer Dixie D’Amelio dropped a musical release, ‘Roommates‘ following her Christmas duet with ‘One Direction‘ alum Liam Payne.
D’Amelio delivered the exciting news regarding her new single plus a new music video through her verified Instagram account. The famous TikToker released a snap from the music video, in which she is seen crouched down inside a lift, and told of her struggle with anxiety and depression.
D’Amelio first said that ‘Roommates’ written by Demi Lovato, Mitch Allan, M-Phazes, Brett McLaughlin, Chloe Angelides, and Nick Lopez is out now and added regarding her third song about mental health:
“Mental health is something I really struggle with every day and music has become the best way for me to express this. I would love to continue talking to you guys about mental health awareness because it really is so important. I’ve struggled to get the courage to open up in the past, but over time I hope to get more comfortable…”
Stating anxiety and depression have taken over her life in 2020, the young singer also said she became a target on the internet and was hurt by the mean comments, like the many people with fame.
“I’m also working on how to show my true self every day and not spend time on trying to look ‘perfect’ for the internet (even if I look musty lol.)”
The 7th most-followed individual on TikTok then thanked her fans and followers for supporting her in new areas and added that she is going on creating new things for them. The 19-year-old, who said she is uncomfortable talking about her feelings, not singing, continued her message by expressing her excitement regarding her brand new release:
“I don’t like talking about my feelings lol…but I do like singing them I guess. The reason I’m so excited to share this single is that in my own way, I truly relate to the meaning behind this song. I love the way it makes me feel.”
