The first woman to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated, Paulina Porizkova went to Instagram the other day to share an update regarding her mental health.
The former supermodel posted a photo of herself inside her home looking away and captioned it with a note that reads:
“My apartment is empty but for an inflatable mattress and a folding chair – for now. The symbolism is pretty heavy-handed here. I’m starting over. Some days are better than others. But every day I wake up crying.”
Stating that feeling in this way is quite okay, the 55-year-old added that the pain propels her to forward to coping with life. In her message, Porizkova likened herself to a cat “that tries o outrun whatever is hurting them” and continued:
“I hurt so I have to move. For some people it’s the opposite: when in pain they freeze and shut down, waiting for it to stop.”
‘America’s Next Top Model’ judge said that a lot of people apart from her are suffering from various pain; physical and mental. Because that knowledge made her feel guilty to experience her own pain, she decided to smile and go on, according to what she stated in the message.
“But it doesn’t make me NOT feel it. We can feel pain and still know we are the lucky ones. #grateful #blessed #sad”
Following Porizkova’s emotional post, highly notable names took to the comment section. While well-known Hollywood actor Alyssa Milano thanked her for letting people into her heart, Selma Blair encouraged her to go on expressing her thoughts. As for Sharon Stone left an out-of-context comment:
“Your posts are like a slow motion BERMAN movie especially this photo.”
As might fans know, Porizkova found her partner of 20 years, The Cars’ lead singer Ric Ocasek dead in his home in September 2019. A shorty before Ocasek’s death, he alleged that his wife abandoned him ahead of his recent surgery. The couple had two sons, Jonathan Raven Ocasek and Oliver Ocasek.
