Conservative author Candace Owens was slammed by a good number of celebs and fans after she had criticized Harry Styles‘ cover photo for Vogue Magazine, in which he appears wearing a ball gown.
On November 14, Owens, who is familiar with attacking celebs for their acts and fashion tastes, quote tweeted Vogue Magazine’s photos and released a message including her concerns about “men in dresses.” She wrote through Twitter:
“There is no society that can survive without strong men. The East knows this. In the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack.”
Owens, who previously criticized Joe Biden and Cardi B, added:
“Bring back manly men.”
After her highly sexist tweet, she received waves of backlash from several celebrities including Olivia Wilde, Zach Braff, Elijah Wood, and Jameela Jamil. ‘Lord of the Rings’ star Elijah Wood was quick to respond to Owens, he took to Twitter and stated the conservative author has missed the definition of what man is.
“Masculinity alone does not make a man.”
Then ‘The Good Place’ actor Jameela Jamil defended Styles by saying he is 104% perfect and added:
“Harry Styles is plenty manly, because manly is whatever you want it to be, not what some insecure, toxic, woman-hating, homophobic di**heads decided it was hundreds of years ago.”
As for well-known actor and director, Zach Braff commented on the issue by writing through Twitter that boys and men could be whatever they want to be without the obligation of being manly.
Another actor and director Olivia Wilde, who currently split from Jason Sudeikis after 9 years of engagement, slammed Owens by writing:
“You’re pathetic.”
