The singer and television personality Keke Palmer posted the cover of her book ‘I Don’t Belong To You’ through Instagram and spoke over her writing experience.
The co-host of daytime talk show ‘Strahan, Sara and Keke’ on ABC, mentioned the writing process and expressed how did writing a book help her to improve her mental health:
“I started writing this book when I was 21. My 21st year was a heavy growing period for me where I dealt with themes around my ego and expectations. Writing this book was very therapeutic as it served as an opportunity to revisit my personal trauma, my family trauma and the generational trauma I never realized I carried.”
The ‘Rags’ star continued:
“Though I was still learning(and will continue to learn) throughout the book I share things that assisted me on my personal journey. Whether it be mental, spiritual and or physical; or friends, family and relationships it’s all about how we can support ourselves in quieting the noise and finding OUR voice. If you find that any of that speaks to you, check it out.”
At the end of the caption, Palmer described her book as a self-realization journey of a young woman:
“While it mirrors a memoir in moments it’s really just about a young woman on her journey of self realization. ❤”
Following this post, her followers left these comments regarding ‘I Don’t Belong To You:’
