Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, born Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, released a new album called ‘DAYSTAR,’ and broke his silence on the allegations regards he had shot rapper Megan Thee Stallion, with the diss tracks on the said album.
As one’s remember, Thee Stallion claimed that Lanez had shot her in feet in July, whereupon he was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon in his vehicle. Following this incident, the ‘Memories Don’t Die’ hitmaker had not commented, however, the other day, revealed that he would speak through his new music release. Lanez wrote on Instagram:
“To my fans… I’m sorry for my silence… but respectfully… I got time today… 9 PM PST.”
The rapper continued on another post:
“There is a time to stay silent. And a time to speak ….. I said all I could say on this … ALL PLATFORMS … in 5 MINUTES ….. #DAYSTAR”
Lanez did what he had promised and flowed about Megan Thee Stallion’s claims; in ‘Money Over Fallouts’ he addressed the allegations:
“Girl, you had the nerve to write that statement on an affidavit / Knowing I ain’t do it but I’m coming at my truest/ Trying to keep this (expletive) 200 with you, shorty, I can prove it.”
He added:
“Gotta see a couple questions: how the (expletive) you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons? / How the (expletive) your team is trying to pay me in some whole millions? / I just lost like 10 million dollars because of this cold business / But I got like 10 million followers that’s gon’ roll with me”
However, the album has not received positive feedback yet, even, the rapper has been slammed as “insensitive” and “tone-deaf.” Also, a good number of social media users criticized him for making diss tracks against a woman who was shot:
“Tory Lanez… thought it was best to release an album to capitalize off of the negative press and justify his version of events for shooting an unarmed black woman. All this in the wake of yesterday’s decision by the grand jury to not charge (Breonna) Taylor’s killers.”
