Singer & songwriter Tinashe, born Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe, celebrated the anniversary of the release of ‘Songs For You,’ which is the first studio album she dropped as an independent artist.
The former member of the girl group ‘the Stunners‘ took to Instagram on November 21 and expressed her satisfaction regarding releasing that album by sharing a long message. Alongside a series of snaps, including the album cover photo, in which she appears with her unique hairstyle, she wrote that ‘Songs For You’ means way more to her than the world will ever know.
The singer, who appeared on pop icon Britney Spears‘ single ‘Slumber Party,’ thanked fans & followers who allowed her to be “vulnerable and spill out my little human heart.” Tinashe also stated that being an independent artist is not easy especially for a singer, who rose the fame as a member of a band; so she touched on the importance of the album one more time.
The 27-year-old concluded her message by mentioning her independence in the music industry:
“Sometimes I miss feeling like part of the “machine 💰 “ … But navigating the industry on my own terms has made me insufferably happy every move I make in life is because I simply followed my heart and gut instincts. I guess That’s just how I operate.”
The said album, featuring MAKJ, Ms. Banks, 6LACK, and G-Eazy, was released independently through Tinashe’s her own label Tinashe Music Inc. on November 21, 2019. As known, the singer departed from RCA Records in February 2019, and the album was the first music project she released after that. The singer received positive reviews with the album, mostly for releasing her music independently.
