Mother of Beyoncé, Tina Knowles-Lawson gave an adorable shout-out to her son-in-law, Shawn Carter, better known by his stage name, Jay-Z, after he sold half of Ace of Spades ownership to LVMH – Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
Knowles, who garnered media attention recently with the post praising her granddaughter Blue Ivy‘s fashion modeling skills, this time took to her verified Instagram account to congratulate the owner of Armand de Brignac champagne brand. After posting a couple of photos of Jay-Z captured by photographer Raven B. Varona, Knowles-Lawson wrote that the message she is about to write is “a love letter to my son-in-law Shawn Carter” and continued:
“The reason why I was led to write this was because recently at the Super Bowl we witnessed the national anthem America the Beautiful and the halftime entertainment all being super talented black people !!! Everyone was psyched about it! Each person that performed Jazmine Sullivan, Her, and the Weekend all slaying their performances and making Black Excellence shine and us all proud.”
The founder of House of Deréon and Miss Tina later talked about how the hate the rapper received after his partnership with NFL did not allow him to deter him from making a difference. She continued her message by praising Jay-Z’s endless efforts to support black-owned businesses:
“I really try to support every Black business but so many would rather support Apple. One day I claim that we will stop being crabs in a barrel . We will support each other. (…) You are a badass brother and I hope that you continue to pave the way for others like you have in the past !!”
Stating that she has seen kindness and generosity so many times that people do not even know anything about, Knowles added that she loves the rapper so much. She concluded:
“You are a true man who has admitted publicly when you’ve made mistakes in a very brave and classy way ! You have in turn influenced the Culture of Young Black Men.”
