Spice Girls’ Geri Halliwell Shows Off Her Very Revealing Outfit After 24 Years: “I Trusted My Instincts And Wore It Anyway”

Singer and songwriter Geri Halliwell, also known as “Ginger Spice“, fired up her social media accounts after Dua Lipa gave a shout-out to her during the 2021 BRIT Award performance on May 11.

As known, on Tuesday, Lipa, who won the awards for Female Solo Artist and Album of the Year for her groundbreaking studio album ‘Future Nostalgia,’ offered tribute to Halliwell’s unforgettable Union Jack outfit by wearing a look-alike jacket.

A few days after Lipa’s performance, the former member of the girl group Spice Girls released a TBT photo of herself from her 1997 dated BRIT Awards, in the said outfit featured a flag of the United Kingdom. In addition to the picture, the 48-year-old singer released the following message on her verified Twitter account:

Trust yourself. … this dress is a reminder to follow your instincts and be yourself. 24 years ago I had an idea- to wear a Union Jack to celebrate The Brit Awards. Despite the doubts, I trusted my instincts and wore it anyway.”

In her message, Halliwell also stated that it is special for her to see the outfit worn by “a fellow sister” after all these years, by referring to Lipa.

Adding the hashtag “Girl Power,” the singer revealed that her dress, which became the notions of “Girl Power,” and “Cool Britannia,” was a do-it-yourself piece:

“P.S. it was £5 tea towel on a Gucci dress.”

As known, the dress, which has been marked as one of the 10 most iconic dresses of the past 50 years, became “the most expensive piece of popstar clothing sold at an auction” according to the Guinness World Records.
