One of the most known tennis players, Serena Williams, who has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, introduced the new black/mixed dolls she could not have one when she was growing up.

The former world number one in women’s singles tennis posted a photo of her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian with a Qai Qai doll, which was characterized with its black skin and got her name from Williams’s nephew, and announced that the Qai Qais are now available to buy.

“’But where can I buy my own Qai Qai?!’ is a question me and @alexisohanian have been asked countless times by family, friends, and (literally!!) thousands of people on the internet. When we first opened @RealQaiQai’s account on Instagram two years ago, it was just supposed to be an inside joke, but we’ve come to realize that Qai Qai could be the beginning of a new kind of toy story, and one that we’re excited to help bring to life so our daughter and millions of other children can see and play with more toys that look like them.”

As known, Qai Qai has become popular on social media in 2018, and in an interview, Williams said that the black dolls expressed her daughter’s heritage, and having a black or mixed doll was an opportunity to learn the message of equality.

Williams continued her message on Instagram:

“So THANK YOU to every adult who’s joined us in choosing to be a kid again and allowing themselves to laugh with and be inspired by this incredible little doll. Starting today, you can bring Qai Qai home to your daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who likes to boss up!! This is just the beginning!! ❤️❤️”

The doll has more than 150.000 followers and its own Instagram page is growing day by day.
