The well-known singer, songwriter, actress, and producer Selena Gomez posted a photo of herself to support the body-positivity movement by showing her scars that remained after her kidney transplant operation.
As one’s remember, ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ singer was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 and received a kidney transplant from actress and friend Francia Raisa in 2017.
Alongside the said photo that she appears in a blue swimsuit, Gomez wrote referring the period she had got the treatment:
“When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar. I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up.”
The 28-year-old singer then expressed that she did not care anymore about her scars, and was willing to show them up.
“Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through…and I’m proud of that. T – Congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that…all bodies are beautiful.”
Following the post, many of her industry friends sent their supports on social media:
