Despite the coronavirus pandemic, there will be a Times Square concert, as the previous years.
However, this time, the Times Square New Year’s Eve concert will be undergone for the heroes of the pandemic; health workers, essential workers, and their families.
At the night, where Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, and Machine Gun Kelly will perform, the 2020’s biggest heroes will receive VIP perks to watch the show live. According to news obtained by TMZ, Pitbull also will give a “special salute” to them.
‘I Know You Want Me’ rapper expressed his excitement regarding the special event, through his verified Instagram account. Alongside a photo of him performing at the Times Square, he wrote as a caption:
“Don’t miss yours truly, returning to Times Square to ring in the New Year for our audience of first responders. I BELIEVE that we will win in 2021. #ibelievethatwewillwin #2021 #newyearseve #timessquare”
Along with these notable names, Gloria Gaynor will appear on the stage to sing her legendary song, ‘I Will Survive.’
The celebration, which is starting at 6 PM ET, will be hosted by the ‘Mean Girls‘ star Jonathan Bennett, under strict precautions against the coronavirus. Bennett said in a press statement that COVID-19 can not stop Times Square from dropping the ball.
As an important note, the general public is not going to be allowed in Times Square, that night, however, they can see the show from their homes, via the net. The commercial-free show will be streamed on certain websites.
