Nasir Jones Calls Everybody To Mark That Hip Hop Turning 50: “We Have A Responsibility To Celebrate This Milestone”

Seven-time platinum-certified rapper Nasir Jones took to his verified Instagram account in order to encourage people all around the world to note a milestone; Hip Hop is turning 50 in 2023.

On April 5, the well-known rapper Nas released a black and white TBT of himself, captured at South Bronx, where the Hip Hop culture was born and continues to influence people. Alongside the photo, in which the 47-year-old rapper is seen wearing an oversize jacket, and a bandanna he wrote the following message as a caption:

“For myself and so many others, Hip Hop has been an all-powerful voice, a way to change your environment, a way out. Hip Hop is the universe, and we are all stars in the galaxy, cosmically connected with the purpose of shaping the culture.”

One of the greatest MCs of all time continued his message by saying that it is quite exciting to”marvel at its evolving/expansive beauty” and added that it is unbelievable to think that Hip Hop is turning 50.

The ‘Hip Hop Is Dead’ hitmaker wrote then that each member of the Hip Hop community has a “responsibility to celebrate this milestone in the most iconic and inclusive way possible.” He went on saying mentioning the “HipHop50 movement”:

“HipHop50 is a movement to connect us all to the foundation that has given so much to so many. Through a network of great partners, we will pay the highest tribute to Hip Hop across all mediums. This is a moment for us to come together, to live, learn, and honor a genre that’s turned into a way of life. Coming soon…”

It is now waited by the fans for the details regarding the movement. See below to view the mentioned photo.
