Miley Cyrus Gets Candid About Her Divorce: “I Can’t Accept The Villainizing”

Miley Cyrus appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast as a guest and spoke in this clear for the first time,  a year after declaring her splitting from actor Liam Hemsworth.

As remember, Cyrus and Hemsworth were first engaged in 2012, re-engaged in 2018, and married in a private wedding ceremony in their home in Nashville, Tennessee in the same year. However, 2 years later, in 2020, Cyrus and Hemsworth divorced citing “irreconcilable differences.”

During the appearance, the 27-year-old singer & actress said it was tough to confront public opinion while experiencing a hard break up. She said:

“What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore, that’s OK, I can accept that, I can’t accept the villainizing, and just all those stories. It’s amazing that the public kind of thinks there’s no gap of time they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this.”

The ‘We Can’t Stop’ singer stated that she had not the power to end the marriage then, and described their relationship with Hemsworth as an “addiction.”

“It was that thing I just needed not because we were in love anymore, but because the comfort and because my brain said, Oh, this feels better. This is comforting. But actually, knowing that I was giving in to addiction made me feel way worse.”

Cyrus who had experience with addiction continued:

“I had a hangover. The next day, OK, we sleep together, the next day, I’m totally hungover. It felt like a relapse every time I’d go back.”

At the end of the conversation, the ‘Midnight Sky’ singer said that she was totally free from any kind of addiction, and was sober.
