Harry Styles is going on receiving support over his Vogue Cover look. This time, his ‘One Direction’ fellow, Liam Payne spoke out against the criticism Styles got after he had appeared in a dress on the cover of the magazine’s December issue.
As can be recalled, Styles became a subject of controversy with his look, so much so that, conservative author and commentator Candace Owens reacted to him by saying “Bring back manly men.” Whereupon, a great number of notable names took their social media to slam Owens due to her highly sexist tweets. The latest name reacting to Owens became Payne.
The ‘Adore You‘ singer appeared as a guest on ‘Capital Breakfast‘ and told the host, Roman Kemp that Styles is a free spirit person and can do anything he wants with himself. He added that there are no “right clothes.” In his own words:
“Oh, I thought it was great, you know. I think he’s enjoying himself and he’s free to do as he wishes. There’s been a lot more stuff going on this year than whether or not he’s wearing the right clothes in someone else’s mind.”
Apart from defending his fellow’s unique style, during the interview, Payne also reacted to the claims that Styles lost himself after he had left ‘One Direction.’ He said:
“He’s never really lost himself, even in spite of everything after the band. Then I remember seeing him… It was actually at Jingle Bell Ball, backstage for the first time in a long time…”
The singer, who puts Styles on the nice list, concluded his words by praising his former bandmate as follows:
“And he’s still the same guy he was when we left each other in that dressing room as the band kind of stopped for a little bit.”
