One of the greatest basketball players of all time, LeBron James received the NBA Championship ring in the name of his team, the Los Angeles Lakers on December 22, in a totally Kobe Bryant devoted ceremony.
During the ceremony which was held under the COVID-19 restrictions in empty Staples Centre, James referred to the coronavirus pandemic and said:
“Just a weird day celebrating a historic moment with our franchise and a historic run with what we did last year and then having to do it without our family and friends and our fans.”
Later, James posted through Instagram a photo of himself while putting the ring, which includes the late basketball star Bryant’s 8 and 24 numbers along with a Black Mamba snake, on his finger and captioned it with Drake and Future‘s ‘Big Rings‘ lyrics:
“We need some really nice things/ We need some really big RINGS/ I got a really big team/ Better be comin’ with no strings! Man WHAT A TIME!👑”
Then the four-time NBA champion shared a touching Photoshop in which he and Kobe Bryant are seen together while getting the ring to honor the late star, who passed away back in January with his daughter Gianna Bryant, due to a helicopter crash. Alongside the photo, James wrote:
“What I felt last night when I grabbed that ring from the case. Love and miss you my brother!!!! #Mamba4Life🐍 8•24 ♾. 🙏🏾❤️👑.”
Following the post, countless followers took to the comment section to say Bryant would always be missed.
