Jesy Nelson announced on December 14 that she is not a member of the well-known girl group Little Mix anymore.

To deliver the news regarding her leaving from the band, Nelson took to her verified Instagram account and shared a lengthy written statement by captioning it with a heart emoji.

In her statement, first said that being a member of the girl band for 9 years was incredible, however, she added that this had “taken a toll” on her mental health. Nelson clarified her words as follows:

“I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”

The 29-year-old star, stating it is high time to embark on a new chapter for her music career, said that she had made her decision “after much consideration and with a heavy heart.” She also added that she needs to spend time with the people around her and do things that she makes her happy.

“I’m not sure what it’s going to look like right now, but I hope you’ll still be there to support me.”

Jesy Nelson’s ex Chris Hughes showed his support for her by writing “The best ❤️” as a comment on the post.

The singer’s decision came after it was announced that she had taken a break from the band for “private medical reasons.”

Following Nelson’s Instagram post, through the official Instagram account for the band, a joint statement was released under the names of her former bandmates, Jade, Perrie, and Leigh-Anne. In the post, it was highlighted that the decision was totally made by Nelson. It continued:

“This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy. We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being.”

It was also expressed that the Little Mix journey would continue with the rest of the members.

“We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us. We’re looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour.”
