Jessie J achieved a milestone as a songwriter this time.
The ‘Price Tag‘ hitmaker shared a video of herself riding a bike in the dark and revealed that she was celebrating Miley Cyrus’ hit ‘Party in the USA‘ being certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), at that moment. Alongside the video, the singer wrote:
“I celebrated by buying myself a bike for the first time and awkwardly riding it around in the dark looking like a nervous elderly 12-year-old boy rein-acting the scene from ET…”
In the caption section, Jessie J, born Jessica Ellen Cornish, also wrote that she reunited with the singer and songwriter Claude Kelly, whom she had written the lyrics of ‘Party in the USA’ on Zoom, and started a new collaboration first time in 8 years. Just a day after, they heard the exciting news:
“TODAY we woke up to find out one of the first songs we ever wrote over 10 years ago “Party in the USA” is certified DIAMOND 😭💎 10.000.000 😩🥳🤩”
The 32-year-old singer highlighted that this is a huge achievement that only 44 songs have ever reached so far, and did not forget to credit the song’s performer, Miley Cyrus. Cornish thanked Cyrus for putting her name as a songwriter and added:
“Every day since, and until the end of time, I don’t think I will really be able to explain how thankful I am for @mileycyrus making this song everything that it is. Forever grateful 🙏🏻”
Referring to Cyrus’ new style and rock featured album, ‘Plastic Hearts,’ Cornish concluded her message as follows:
“You are a F***ING ROCK STAR. ✨”
