One of the most powerful celebrities in the world Jennifer Lopez, and former New York Yankee star Alex Rodriguez lost their bid to purchase New York Mets baseball team, currently owned by real estate developer Fred Wilpon.
Lopez and fiancé Alex Rodriguez expressed their disappointment in no longer be pursuing ownership of the New York Mets. JLo took to her verified Instagram account and wrote the following statement:
“Alex and I are so disappointed!!! We worked so hard the past 6 months with the dream of becoming the first minority couple and the first woman owner to buy her father’s favorite Major League Baseball team with her own hard-earned money. We still haven’t given up!!!”
However, after a little while, Lopez deleted the post including the above-mentioned statement.
According to news released by ESPN, the couple’s bid was for $1.7 billion, and they put in $300 million of their own money while Billionaire hedge fund manager Steve Cohen had offered $2.6 billion in 2019. As in the last year, Cohen will finalize a deal to purchase the team, according to CNBC.
