Well-known actor and singer Hayley Kiyoko, who is also known as “Lesbian Jesus,” announced a piece of great news that can be accepted as a gift for her fans and followers in honor of Pride Month.
On June 1, Kiyoko, who came to prominence internationally after starring in fan-favorite TV series ‘The Fosters,’ jumped into her social media platforms and heralded that her latest song titled ‘Chance‘ is out now! What’s more, the official music video for the song was also released as of the date of June 1.
In order to break the news, the singer and songwriter shared a teaser from the clip, in which she is seen kissing a girl, and added a caption that reads:
“So many times I’ve wondered what would have happened if I just took a chance on myself. So often we don’t think we’re worthy of love, so we let the opportunity pass… I wrote this song hoping it will encourage you to take a chance… on the person or thing you want, but most importantly on yourself Love you all so much.”
Shortly before the song and the accompanied music video launched, she said in a recent interview that she served as a director for the music video; in her own words:
“I directed a music video for it that captures what would have happened if I had taken a chance — that amazing relationship you will find and will experience when that love is reciprocated both ways in that honeymoon stage.”
During the interview, Kiyoko, who open-heartedly said multiple times that she has been suffering from anxiety for a long time, also stated that the song is a representation of her wish of believing herself a little bit. Regarding the story of the song and the music video, she said by referring to her private life:
“Complaining and being upset that I didn’t have a chance with women and I didn’t even take a chance on myself. I didn’t even believe in myself, that I was worthy or that I had something to offer. So that’s what inspired this song.”
