Well-known singer and songwriter Halsey went to her social media accounts with a piece of great news regarding her upcoming album titled ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.’
The singer, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin, released the cover image for her album and made a huge wave among the fans. In addition to revealing the cover art, in which the singer is sitting on a throne while holding a baby and one of her breasts exposed, Halsey announced that the album is coming on August 27, 2021.
The expectant mother then added the album is a concept album “about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth” and continued by referring to the album cover:
“It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully.”
The 27-year-old singer continued her words as follows:
“My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being.”
Regarding the album cover image which was photographed by Lucas Garrido, the singer added:
“This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired. We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!”
