Halsey, born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, has been named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020. The ‘Closer’ singer has been listed among Megan Thee Stallion, The Weeknd, JoJo Siwa, and Michael B. Jordan in the 2020 artists category.
Halsey’s tribute was penned by the members of the K-pop group, BTS. The members, RM, J-Hope, Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, V, and Suga wrote:
“Her bold spirit really shines through her music and performances, as well as her life. And that spirit and passion have been instilled in us and inspired artistic ambitions of our own. (…) Knowing her music, the decision to collaborate with her on our single Boy With Luv was one of the easiest calls we’ve ever had to make. It just had to be her.”
The 25-year-old artist updated her Instagram feed with a post in order to thank both TIME and BTS:
“It’s an absolute honor to be named one of @time ‘s 100 Most Influential People in the world. Thank you to my friends BTS @bts.bighitofficial for writing a beautiful piece about our work and friendship to introduce me.”
Halsey, known for her activism on social issues and using her platforms for raising funds for people/communities in need, concluded her message as follows:
“And thank you to everyone who tuned in to watch my performance last night. It is overwhelming to be recognized in this way, but I can only hope that with the support of my friends and fans we can do so much more with our platform in a time where we need it the most.”
