Two-time Academy Award-winning artist Elton John is not okay with the decision the Vatican made regarding gay marriages.
On March 15, John fired up his verified social media accounts to criticize the Vatican after the declaration that the Catholic Church will not bless gay marriages since God can not bless sin. The legendary musician posted a photo collage consisting of two different reports, one of which is about the Vatican decision and the other one is the article titled “How the Vatican Spent Millions on Elton John’s Biopic.”
As known, according to multiple media outlets, Vatican helped to finance John’s biopic called ‘Rocketman‘ in 2019. Alongside the photo collage, the five-time Grammy Award winner wrote:
“How can the Vatican refuse to bless gay marriages because they ‘are sin,’ yet happily make a profit from investing millions in “Rocketman” – a film which celebrates my finding happiness from my marriage to David?“
Then the Rock & Roll legend called out the hypocrisy of the Vatican for refusing to bless gay same-sex unions. What’s more, John released the same post on his verified Instagram account and his industry friends took to the comments section to support him.
“One has to wonder Thoughts and prayers only go so far” wrote, Sharon Stone.
“I can’t believe we still live in a world with this idiotic and backward thinking. 😢” added, rugby player James Haskell.
As fans might remember, not so long before, back on October 22, the musician jumped into his social media accounts to thank Pope Francis for his endorsement of same-sex civil unions. At that time, he also wrote:
“Giving your blessing to same sex civil unions is a major step towards equality, and a foundation for which countless others can enjoy the same protections and happiness. God bless you 🙏🏻”
It seems, the things have changed dramatically in a short time period.
