Five-time Grammy Award-winning artist Elton John and his husband David Furnish took their social media accounts to mark two big anniversaries on December 21.
In an Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of the two, John wrote that he and his husband are marking the 15th anniversary of their Civil Partnership plus the 6th anniversary of their marriage.
As known, John and Furnish signed into a civil partnership on December 21, 2005, and they married on the same day in 2014, following same-sex marriage became legal in the UK.
John also stated in the post that their relationship is getting stronger day by day, and he is so grateful for the marriage and their two sons. He continued:
“However, we are the lucky ones, as millions of gay people throughout the world are discriminated against because of their sexuality. This is a disgrace. We all deserve to love who we want. We will continue to fight for equality for all.”
The legendary artist concluded his beautiful tribute by tagging Elton John AIDS Foundation on. Following the post, notable names in the celebs world, including Sharon Osbourne, Elizabeth Hurley, Craig McGinlay, Olivia Palermo, and Russell Tovey took to the comment section to send congratulatory messages to the couple.
Meanwhile, Furnish went to Instagram, posted a photo of himself with John, and expressed how much he is thankful for being able to celebrate 15 years of togetherness.
“I celebrated our Civil Partnership in Britain. What a wonderful day that was. 6 years ago, we renewed our vows and got legally married in front of our two beautiful sons. This type of civil progress was unimaginable when I was growing up.”
Then Furnish highlighted that LGBTQ+ marriage is still illegal in more than 70 countries around the world, while in 12 of those, same-sex love is to the death penalty.
“Through our work with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Elton and I pledge to continue the fight for equality for our LGBT+ brothers and sisters around the world.”
