Demi Lovato, who teamed up for new awareness song ‘OK Not To Be OK’ with Marshmello, made a highly forceful statement on mental health issues on World Suicide Prevention Day, through her verified Instagram account.
Lovato shared a series of slides prepared by the non-profit movement, HOPE FOR THE DAY that aims to empower “the conversation on proactive suicide prevention and mental health education,” and told of her own struggle.
As might be known, the single was released in partnership with the said organization to raise awareness about mental health education and suicide prevention. Lovato wrote:
“Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Since a young age I’ve dealt with suicidal thoughts and depression. I’ve been very vocal in raising the awareness of mental health because it is possible to see the light when you start the work on yourself.”
Then the ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ singer, who is familiar with uplifting and encouraging people those struggle with mental health issues by sharing her own story, added:
“I’m living proof that you never have to give in to those thoughts. I’ve had many days where I’ve struggled but please let this song be an anthem to anyone who needs it right now. You can get through whatever it is you’re going through… I’m here for you always, you are not alone and I love you 💞”
At the end of her message, Lovato thanked HOPE FOR THE DAY on the name of herself and Marshmello for the opportunity to collaborate:
“@hopefortheday is an incredible nonprofit that provides education and resources to better our mental health. @marshmellomusic and I are SO thankful to have their support and resources. My hope is that you’ll read these slides and share them with your friends and family. Take care of yourself, and listen to your loved ones.
