Singer Demi Lovato turned 28 on August 20 and that day launched a campaign to demand justice for Breonna Taylor, who was fatally shot eight times by Louisville Metro Police Department officers, inside her home, while she was asleep on March 13.
The singer shared a note that featured a picture of Taylor as the background on her social media accounts and captioned it as follows:
“I’m so lucky to be here today and to have made it to my 28th birthday. Join me in taking a stand for Breonna Taylor. #BlackLivesMatter”
Lovato, who has spoken out on Taylor’s killing before, wrote in the said note as follows:
“Today is my 28th birthday… a birthday that Breonna Taylor will never have the opportunity to experience.”
Then the newly 28-year-old singer explained that she was taking this “real action” to bring justice to Taylor’s case and provided further information regarding the campaign:
“I’ve launched a special Propeller campaign in Breonna’s honor that includes prewritten letters to the Louisville mayor and chief of police, petition links, and donation links. No matter how big or small you think your impact maybe, if we all stand together we can help bring justice for Breonna Taylor. START TAKING ACTION NOW.”
