Model and actor Corinne Foxx, who has been in the public eye since a very young age as the daughter of Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx, expressed her satisfaction with her natural appearance which is a reflection of her heritage.
Foxx, who is gearing up to appear in the upcoming sitcom ‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!‘ with her father, took to her verified Instagram on March 24, and celebrated the first anniversary of her natural hair journey by releasing a couple of photos of herself, in which she is looking gorgeous with her curly hair.
Alongside the photos, the ‘Live in Front of a Studio Audience‘ star added a lengthy message to express how much she is proud to embrace her natural curls and texture against the industry demands. Foxx mentioned how the industry forced her and a great number of people of color to eliminate their heritage by changing their appearance:
“For most of my life, I shied away from my natural hair texture and feared my God-given curly, thick hair. I never swam in a pool, dunked my head in the ocean or danced in the rain. My life revolved around keeping my hair in line with society’s standards of beauty.”
According to what she stated in the caption section, well-known actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Yara Shadihi inspired her to start her own journey. So, in 2020, Foxx stopped straightening her hair and embraced who she is.
“Now a year later, I just did my first photo shoot completely NATURAL! 👩🏽🦱📸💋Curls out loud and proud! And I can’t tell you how liberating it felt to be completely and authentically myself. Not trying to fit into anyone else’s box of who I should/shouldn’t be. This is me. And I love her.”
Apart from the ‘All-Star Weekend‘ star, a great number of people decided to turn to their natural appearance by rising against the beauty standards. As known, a few days before, rapper Megan Thee Stallion revealed that she decided to start a natural hair journey.
