It would be surprising if John Legend and Carrie Underwood did not receive an award for their musical collaboration ‘Hallelujah’!
On June 9, the well-known star jumped into her verified Instagram account and announced that she was presented the CMT Award For Video Of The Year! Underwood, who has garnered high praises for her performance ‘Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency,’ released a photo of herself from the ceremony and shared her satisfaction with bringing the award home.
Alongside the photo in which she is seen holding the CMT Award, Underwood wrote the following message by acclaiming her musical partner John Legend:
“Thank you fans! What an incredible night at the @cmt awards! @johnlegend and I took home Video Of The Year! Thank you @randeestnicholas for your beautiful work… What a night!”
In the comments section, a great number of her fans called her “the best country singer” and they added she deserves the best!
During her acceptance speech, Underwood thanked fans, CMT community and Legend as well as follows:
“John Legend, thank you for sending me this incredible song and agreeing to sing with me on it and making this incredible video that I am so proud of, and congratulations on what I think is your first CMT Award! God bless you guys. Thank you so much! Thank you, fans! Thank you, CMT!”
The song ‘Hallelujah’ has been released as a part of Legend &Underwood’s Christmas album ‘My Gift’ in 2020. Regarding the song, Underwood, who also dropped an HBO Max special titled ‘My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood’ at that time, said in an interview:
“I was deep into making, and this one kind of came in. He sent it to us kind of at the end. It was like, ’Well, I love the song. I feel like this is a puzzle piece I didn’t know was missing, but now that I’ve heard it, I have to have it.’”
Via the award, Underwood remained to be the most awarded artist ever at the CMTs.
