English model, actress, and singer Cara Delevingne has joined stars in a 24-hour “freeze” within the nonprofit organization ‘Stop Hate For Profit’ to fight against hate speech on Facebook.
Delevingne criticized Facebook not to do enough to restrain hate speech, disinformation, and confusion, and wrote as a caption:
“#STOPHATEFORPROFIT • Social media should be a place to communicate, express ourselves, and connect – not to hate, mislead, discriminate, or bully.”
Then the 28-year-old announced that she would stop posting on her Facebook and Instagram accounts for 1 day, as a part of the collective action. She added:
“Tomorrow, 9/16, I’ll join some of the nation’s leading civil rights organizations @colorofchange @ADL_National @NAACP in pausing posting for 24 hours. This will give these platforms a chance to make social media a safer and happier place for all of us. I hope you’ll join me #InstaFreeze • stophateforprofit.org”
Following the post, the well-known comedian Sacha Baron Cohen left the following comment and thanked Delevingne for her support:
“Thank you Cara for joining this coalition of Civil Rights groups fighting against racism and disinformation on Facebook/Insta.”
