Beyoncé voices against killings in Nigeria.
Queen Bey showed her support for Nigerians who face torture and brutalization by taking an action to end SARS. As known, the people of Nigeria are fighting against the brutality by the notorious police unit known (Special Anti-Robbery Squad). SARS, formed in 1992, targets the Nigerian youth; harms and arrests them. Apart from all of these, in previous days, also several people dead and arrested during “End SARS” demonstrations against police violence.
Regarding this issue, one of the most dominant figures of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement Beyoncé released a statement through both her social media account and her official website. The founder of the organization BeyGOOD, that also supports COVID-19 reliefs and antiracist movements, expressed her feelings via the following message:
“I am heartbroken to see the senseless brutality taking place in Nigeria. There has to be an end to SARS.”
Then the ‘Black Is King’ creator stated that she and her team already took actions to be solidarity with Nigerians.
“We have been working on partnerships with youth organizations to support those protesting for change. We are collaborating with coalitions to provide emergency healthcare, food, and shelter. To our Nigerian sisters and brothers, we stand with you.”
The singer openly informed the world that she would defend victims of SARS that were documented at least 82 alleged cases of “torture, ill-treatment, and extra-judicial execution.”
