Eight-time Billboard Music Award-winning artist Ashanti fired up her social media accounts to note a milestone: As for the date of April 2, her self-titled debut studio album ‘Ashanti’ turned 19.
Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas delivered the exciting news through her verified Instagram account with a lengthy caption underneath the cover photo of the album released on April 2, 2002, through Murder Inc.
Expressing that she does not still believe that it has been 19 years, Ashanti wrote that she is “truly grateful for all of the historic moments that came from” her eponymous debut album. She continued:
“Grateful to everyone involved in the creative process of making this album such a special place in music history. I’m so humbled to have a new wave of artists continue to show love and sample my music. To all of Team Ashanti and the Ashanti Go Hard’s I wouldn’t be here without you.”
On the day, the singer did not only mark the day; she also heralded that “something so special” is on the way, and promised her fans and followers with the following words:
“I’m working on something so special for next year as it will be the 20th year anniversary!!!!! Trust me it’s going to be amazing!!!! Guinness book of world records 19 years later 😜🙏🏽 Thank you ❤️”
It is quite understandable that the album means that much to the singer; as known, the album, which sold over 505,000 copies just in the United States in its first release week, brought Ashanti multiple Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards and a Grammy Award.
It is now wondered what the ‘Foolish’ star will do on the 20th anniversary of the album produced by Irv Gotti, 7 Aurelius, Chink Santana, Jared Thomas and Reggie Wright.
