Rock music singer and songwriter Nikki McKibbin, best known for her appearance in the contest ‘American Idol’ in 2002, died of a brain aneurysm on November 1.
The devastating news was delivered when her husband Craig Sadler took to Facebook and announced McKibbin had suffered a brain aneurysm; then, her son Tristen Langley confirmed that she was found unresponsive in her home.
In his message, Sadler informed fans and followers that the singer was taken off life support. What’s more, the husband, who was around the singer till she passed away, stated her organs were harvested because she was an organ donor.
‘American Idol’ also released a statement regarding McKibbin’s passing:
“Nikki McKibbin was an incredible talent and we are deeply saddened by the news of her passing. She was part of our American Idol family and will be truly missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.”
Justin Guarini, the runner-up on the same TV show, was quick to send his condolences. Guarini took to his verified Instagram account, posted a black and white photo of McKibbin, and thanked her for the love and friendship she had shown during their time together in the spotlight.
As fans remember McKibbin appeared on the first season of the singing competition television series and placed third. After almost five years, the singer, who attended also ‘Popstars‘ before ‘American Idol,’ released her debut album titled ‘Unleashed‘ in May 2007.
