One of the world’s best-selling music artists, Alicia Keys proved that it is possible to receive numerous prestigious music awards when you started your career in a small bedroom!

On June 1, the 17-time NCAAP Awards-winning artist jumped into her verified Instagram account and released a two-photo gallery including  TBT photos of herself plus her “home studio” she had as a teenager. Alongside the photos, in which she is a quite young musician who is about to make huge waves in the US music industry, the singer and songwriter added a lengthy caption so as to introduce young Alicia to her fans and followers. She wrote:

“Meet Alicia. At her home ‘studio’ on 137th St in Harlem. Just a simple one bedroom. The room was so small, she sat on the bed and played the keyboard piano trying to come up with songs that matched the feelings in her heart.”

Stating that she was singing “in a closet covered with blankets through blazing NY summers” and trying to find her voice, Keys wrote that she made her best to slam non-believers with her talent. She continued:

“No matter what they said. She could do it all. She could write it, play it, sing it and produce it. And she did. All out of a tiny bedroom in Harlem.”

Via the post, the Harlem-based singer also celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album ‘Songs in A Minor.’ As loyal fans already know, the album, which earned five Grammy Awards, was launched on June 5, 2001. So as to show her gratitude to those who belive her, Keys concluded her words as follows:

“But there were so many more. You know who you are. I know who you are. And I thank you deeply for helping me go from this bedroom to the entire world!.”
