Twelve-time ASCAP Award-winning singer and songwriter Alicia Keys opened up about her struggle regarding accepting herself as she is throughout the years.
In a recent interview with Allure magazine, the ‘Empire States of Mind’ hitmaker got candid about her insecurities and shared a part from the interview, on her verified Instagram account on March 18. Keys, who always seems full of confidence, revealed it took a long time to feel in this way.
Following releasing a couple of photoshoots captured for the Allure magazine’s latest issue Keys confessed:
“I’ve never felt comfortable in my skin. I’ve never felt like I can depend on myself without having to check with 30 other people to make sure that my opinion is valid.”
According to what the singer stated in her message on Instagram, fortunately, she changed to better in time and became the confident person who her fans admire. In her words:
“But now I do, I like the way that I feel right now, and it took quite a while to get to this place.”
The 40-year-old thanked the magazine for sharing her story and concluded her message in a highly inspirational way:
“It’s a process… eventually you get there. Be proud of your journey even with all the insecurity… we’re getting closer to ourselves.”
After the fifteen-time Grammy Award winner had released the post, a great number of celebrities flooded the comments section to say that she is looking perfect in the photos. Zoë Kravitz, Sharon Stone, America Ferrera, Gisele Bündchen, Chelsea Handler, Tracee Ellis Ross were some of them.
