While rocking the charts and music platforms with his latest hit, Lil Nas X took to his verified Instagram account to thank his industry friend FKA Twigs for her honesty and support. On March 30, the singer released a short clip from FKA Twigs’ music video for ‘Cellophane‘ and added a lengthy caption “to show love to” her and filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang.
As known, on March 26, Lil Nas X released the music video for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)‘, and the scene he slides down a stripper pole broke the ground. While he was receiving praises from a great number of people, the similarities between his music video and FKA’s ‘Cellophane’ captured attention.
Whereupon, the 21-year-old performer wrote through his Instagram page that he was not aware that “the visual would serve as inspiration for those who worked on the effects” of his video, and continued:
“I want to say thank you to twigs for calling me and informing me about the similarities between the two videos, as I was not aware they were so close. was only excited for the video to come out. I understand how hard you worked to bring this visual to life. You deserve so much more love and praise. 🏹🤍”
Meanwhile, FKA Twigs went to her verified Instagram account, included a photo of ‘Old Town Road‘ hitmaker, and praised him with the following words while supporting him:
“Thank you @lilnasx for our gentle honest conversations and for acknowledging the inspiration cellophane gave you and your creative team in creating your iconic video! I think what you have done is amazing and I fully support your expression and bravery in pushing culture forward for the queer community. legend status.”
Lil Nas X’s video instantly went viral as soon as it had debuted on Friday. In just days, it has been viewed more than 50 million times, and the artist received countless praises for his song and performance in the clip which became a subject of controversy due to the depiction of the devil.
