Missy Elliott, who has been marked as the best-selling female rapper in Nielsen Music history, went to social media to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her hit ‘Get Ur Freak On.’
On March 4, Missy Elliott, born Melissa Arnette Elliott, took to her verified Instagram account and released a short clip from the music video for the song produced by herself and Timbaland and added a caption to mark the day. As known, the said song was released on March 6, 2001, as the first single of her third studio album.
In her message, Elliott wished everyone a happy ‘Get Ur Freak On’ anniversary, and then added:
“👻20 YEARS OLD TODAY!!!!!WHAT😳🔥🔥🔥🔥 This still 20 YEARS AHEAD of the game!”
As the rapper stated in her caption, the song re-entered Billboard 40, a decade after its original run. Following focusing on this achievement, Missy continued as follows:
