Music producer and disc hokey D-Nice has been recognized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) following being marked as one of 2020’s Black Future Makers the other day.

The member of Boogie Down Productions delivered the exciting news by himself through his verified Instagram account as soon as his NAACP Image Awards nomination for Entertainer of The Year had been announced via the official website for NAACP. He wrote on Instagram:

“Yesterday, I received my first ever NAACP Image Awards nomination for Entertainer of The Year!”

By pointing out that it’s the first time a DJ has ever been nominated in that category, the Harlem-born DJ expressed his satisfaction with the nomination while asking his fans and followers to cast their votes through the official website for NAACP. In his own words:

I’m truly humbled by this recognition. Please take a moment to cast your vote at naacpimageawards.net • Thanks for your continued support.”

As known, NAACP Image Awards are presented to people of color to honor their outstanding performances in artistic fields, for almost 53 years. According to the statement issued on the official website, D-Nice, born Derrick Jones, received the nomination due to his musical achievements plus his social and political actions.

As Jones’ loyal fans already knew, in addition to being a major part of President Barack Obama’s 2012 inaugural ball, the DJ organized a “Club Quarantine” party on Instagram Live during the COVID-19 pandemic and reached over 100,000 simultaneous viewers.
