Singer and songwriter Lauren Jauregui, who recently announced through an Instagram post that she became one of the top ten female artists on iTunes, went to Instagram one more time on January 26 with a shot of Angela Davis, the political activist, philosopher, author and symbol of black feminism, to celebrate her 77th birthday.
Fifth Harmony former star captioned the black and white photo of Davis, which became an iconic image over the years, with a lengthy message to honor her. By describing Davis as a “visionary/revolutionary light being,” Jauregui first wished one of the most known figures of the second-wave feminist movement a happy birthday, and continued as follows:
“Honored to still be alive to witness you and listen to you speak with my own ears and eyes. Your literature and expression burst my mind open with possibility and you continue to lead the hearts of divine seers everywhere.”
As the singer stated in her message, the activist inspired millions of people across the world with her endless efforts on fixing political, social, and juristical systems in the United States. One of those, who have been thrilled by the Davis’ vision, Jauregui stated that her presence is enough to be grateful:
“Thank you for the blueprint. Grateful for your presence. #AngelaDavis”
Following the singer’s abovementioned post, a great number of her fans thanked her for using her platform for honoring Davis, who has been marked as “Woman of the Year” in 2020 by TIME Magazine.
