Former football wide receiver and current reality TV star Devale Ellis jumped into his social media platforms to speak out about his TV career.
The actor updated his Instagram feed with a video from one of the latest episodes of their family reality show, ‘The Ellises‘, and stated that building a show business empire is not a picnic. Alongside the video named “The Family Business,” Ellis wrote as a caption that television became the family business almost five years ago when his son saw him an episode of ‘Power‘ and said that he wants to be on TV like his daddy.
“My manager at the time submitted us both for a Cheerios commercial. (…) Jackson went on to book another commercial soon after.”
Stating that he never forces his sons to be in front of the camera, Ellis pointed out to his 4-year-old son Kaz who is not willing to be part of their show. The actor also declared that their future is funded by The Ellis Network, and continued:
“And to be honest, if anyone is going to profit from their likeness it will be them. I get to control how their likeness will be used within brand partnerships. Yes it takes time to build, and yes people will come with lucrative opportunities that may peak your interest, but the real bag comes with ownership.”
Then the actor highlighted that so many things had changed in his professional career after he and his family gained recognition through their shows:
“I used to sit at auditions clean shaven with a collard shirt hoping to get picked… And now those same companies are coming to me to create fully budgeted branded content.”
Ellis concluded his words by saying that having an “entertainment empire” means working with all his homies and family; and added the following hashtags referring to his caption: #DevalesTruth #TheEllises #BuildAnEmpire #LeaveALegacy #PayItForward #HaveFunDoingIt
Following the actor’s post, ‘The Ellises’ fans left highly favorable comments to encourage the family to keep going.
