Media personality and socialite Paris Hilton is going on being honest regarding the abuse she had to experience when she was a teenager.
Hilton took to Instagram on January 21 with a video that includes a pair of shots, taken when she had come home following a year of education at Provo Canyon School where she had suffered institutional abuse.
Alongside the photos, in which she is seen highly devastated and exhausted while wearing the uniform of the school, which is facing multiple lawsuits because of the abuse issues, she issued a statement that reads:
“(…) The horrible experiences I went through at #ProvoCanyonSchool. I can see the pain in my eyes. I was so traumatized that I pretended everything was okay, trying to block out the painful memories. 🥺”
The TV personality, who shared the devastating experience in detail in her YouTube documentary, ‘This Is Paris,’ continued her words by saying that she is so incredibly proud of the woman she is today. In her message, Hilton also promised to save the children from that “psychiatric youth residential treatment center:”
“Being brave and using my voice to make a difference and save children from having to endure the abuse myself and so many others have had to go through.”
In her YouTube Originals documentary, premiered in September 2020, she said that the students were drugged with many unknown medications and were abused physically and psychologically with the unregulated and unethical protocols.
After the release of the YouTube documentary, Hilton, who spent almost a year at the school in the late 1990s, took action to have the school closed. In addition to a Change.org petition named “Shut down the abusive Provo Canyon School,” she took her social media channels multiple times to promote her campaign “Breaking Code Silence.”
